"16,000 year ago here would be underwater, the shore a few streets away. Glaciers melt, crusts move. Time changes erratically, in ebbs and flows, mornings and weather. Combining data from the Geological Survey of Sweden with the voice of a shell lying on the seafloor in Italo Calvino’s short story ‘Shells & Time’, Afloat imagines the watery past of the new Delfi site, calling into question the solidity of the ground under our feet."
